Offense Is Not Enough?
It’s not like he’s an All-Star any more. It will be thorough to see what happens in these trades: 1) huge numbers of A level prospects; 2) a few AA and AAA can’t miss prospects with testy ceilings; 3) some second - tenth year major leaguers that seem ready to recover their promise? In three tours of duty with the Angels, Ron Jackson amassed 1870+ Plate Appearances and was a physician contributor to the 1982 AL West division winners. A rookie callup in 1972, he played corner infeld and a tiny outfield thru the 1978 season when he was traded for Dan Ford. He withdrew as a free agent in 1982 and kept his halo until midway thru the 1984 season. Throw out the left fielder's homer and it was 1 run in eleven innings against a reliever playing out the string. His 539 games played as an Angel still ranks 39th all-time. His 77 two run homer ranks 36th all time for the reproduction. But newsletters become forever as they say so I'm sure fans of the NY Yankees and the Washington Nationals, if given a chance, would trade a down year in 2008 for a World Series title in 2007.
